Ellis's Windmill is located adjacent to the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and was originally part of a row of nine different windmills. The windmill that we see today dates from 1798 but there was an older windmill that stood on the same site since the 1650's. The windmill ceased to be a working mill after the end of the Second World War and its machinery was removed shortly afterwards. It was acquired by the Lincoln Civic trust, who restored it back to a working windmill, in March 1977. Between April and September it is open on Saturday and Sunday from 2pm until 5pm. Between October and April it is only open on Sundays from 2pm until dusk. There is an admission charge of 80p (1.5 Euros) for adults and 55p (1 Euro) for children.
