The Thackray Museum is located adjacent to St James Hospital and tells the story of medicine and how medical advances have shaped the world that we live in today. There is a recreated Victorian street that has authentic smells and sounds where visitors can discover and learn about the diseases and infections that were prevalent at that time. Another exhibit involves the human body, where it is possible to climb inside a huge model of a human body. A more modern exhibit at the museum tells the story of DNA. Thackray's Museum is open daily from 10am until 5pm. Admission charges are: Adults - £5.50 (8.25 Euros) Concessions - £4.50 (6.75 Euros) Children - £4.00 (6 Euros) Family ticket - £18.00 (27 Euros) A family ticket admits 2 adults and up to 3 children. There is also a £1 (1.5 Euro) charge to park at the museum. |
