The inspector found things to like about the hotel, such as "proper keys", "staff who understand English" and "automatic upgrades" when rooms are available. He also valued the "big bathrooms, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and strong coffee".
The hotel is "next to the River Aire" and was once an "18th-century corn mill". As it was a "slow day", he was upgraded to a better room with "plenty of white-washed brick work" as well as "wooden beams" and "sleek black furniture".
The hotel has catering arrangements with the "bistro next door", but doesn't serve lunch or dinner on-site. The hotel's lounge has an "honesty bar" and breakfast is described as having been a "splendid feast and a healthy one".
The author concludes that everything is in "good working order", although he suggests the new owner might want to make a few changes such as adding "a lick of paint" in order to "freshen things up", though he thinks "wholesale changes will be a disaster".
