Description: This ancient elm tree, planted here on the town square died of a tree disease that killed many an elm in this region in the 1980's. It was the idea of an artist, Michel Chevray, to sculpt it instead of cutting it down. Now it is a landmark in the centre of Le Caylar, with its multiple facets, illustrating local animals, insects and human activities caved into it. Visitors stop frequently to admire and photograph it.
