There is no admission cost to enter this Boulder restaurant. Boulder's sister city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan sent 200 crates of hand carved and painted pieces of structure and furnishings of a traditional Tajik tea house to Boulder. Here with the aid of Tajik artisans that made the trip with the crates the only teahouse of its kind in the Western Hemisphere was assembled. It was expanded to include a restaurant after it was completed in 1998. The restaurant includes a wide variety of dishes for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
The location is directly next door to the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Walden Ponds are a series of several ponds in a former sand mining operation. The ponds are operated by Boulder County. There are several ponds with 2.6 miles of trails within the confines of the park.
Parts are open for hiking, horseback riding, fishing and some parts have picnic tables and shelters.
The grounds are open from dawn to dusk and admission is free. The entrance to the park is located 5 miles northeast of the city of Boulder near the intersection of 75th Street and Jay Road.
Fort Laramie National Historic Site
The fort was established after the army purchased Fort John, a private trading post, in 1849. This was then built up into Fort Laramie and was purpose built to provide security to the pioneers using the Oregon Trail. It was always an "open fort" as opposed to the stockade type depicted in Hollywood movies.
Park grounds are open from dawn to dusk year round. The museum and visitor center are open daily with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years at 8:00 a.m. with extended hours during the summer months.
Cost is $3 for those 16 years and above. It is also possible to rent an audio tour of the fort for an additional $3. Activities include bird watching, hiking, fishing and interpretive programs. In the summer season there is also living history exhibits.
Trail Ridge Road Scenic Byway
Trail Ridge road lies mostly within the Rocky Mountain National Park, connecting the towns of Grand Lake on the west and Estes Park on the east via U.S. Highway 34. This is the highest continuous paved highway in the United States with a maximum elevation of 12183 ft (3713 m). Mount Evans Scenic Byway is higher but ends in a dead end. The highway is closed during the winter due to extreme snow pack.
Most years the target for opening is the Memorial Day weekend. It remains open until there is a significant snowfall, which is usually in October. Rocky Mountain National Park entrance fees apply. The fee for a private vehicle is $20 and is valid for 7 days. For individuals (pedestrians, bicycles, and motorcycles) $10 entrance fee is required.
