[Vukasin, 01/09/2011] Booked over website from Atalaiasol in july. Family with kids stays 10 days.
The hotel is located in a very quiet and lovely countryside a few walking minutes from the cliffs of Atalaia between the nice beaches from Porto de mos and Praia de luz. The hotel was ideal for us because direct access to the garden and pool with Jacuzzi and bbq. We used a couple of times the shuttle bus to the hotel owned beach bar Bahia at Meia praia beach. For hotel guests we got discount on food and free sunshades. The apartments are complete with kitchen and everything what you need in holidays. Free Wi-Fi and te

Whenever we had visitors to the Algarve I always used to take them to this restaurant mainly because I liked the cosy decor inside as well as the indoor and outdoor terraces and I always knew the food would be of a very high standard.
Inside the decor is very traditional with rough plastered walls full of hand painted Portuguese plates. Tables and chairs ar

[ramihajohnson, 30/07/2010] The first time we stayed at the Hotel Marina S. Roque, we felt like we were the only guests staying, this was five years ago and we have been going back, every July, since.
Now, we come to regard the Marina S. Roque, as our second home.
The property is beautiful, very well kept and includes an outdoor swimming pool, a covered patio with a garden, a sunbathing area for relaxing and a roof terrace with a lovely view over Meia Praia and the modern Yacht harbour / Marina area.
The rooms are specious and very comfortable, spotless clean, every day, by a very efficient maid service

[Praskipark, 12/01/2010] From the 22nd of February to the 24th of February there will be quite a few carnival celebrations taking place throughout the Algarve in Portugal. Most big towns and some smaller villages celebrate Madi Gras and wherever you are in the Algarve you will come across plenty of frivolity. The main carnaval and the biggest and most colourful takes place in Loule but the one I am going to tell you about is the one in Lagos.
I have taken part in many a carnaval through the streets of Lagos. My son went to school in the Algarve and from the age of 6 until 13 years his school, Barlavento English Scho

[Praskipark, 10/01/2010] I have very fond memories of living in Lagos and the first memories I have are living on a boat in the Fisherman's harbour. In those days we had to jump off the deck into a small dinghy and row to the rocks to climb up on shore.
The fishermen's harbour is still there but now Lagos has its very own International marina right next door. This is always my first port of call when I go back to visit. I love the new marina and I think lots of visitors do to.
Lagos marina has berths for over 460 boats and during July and August they are generally filled. To reach this award winning marina (Blue F

There are displays relating to the maritime history of Lagos and Henry the Navigator, while the battlements and the top terrace provide attractive views of the harbour and are now adorned with intricate metalwork mobiles depicting strangely fantastic vessels: steampunk in the wind.
[magdadh, 14/12/2009] Lagos Zoo is not actually located in Lagos or even on its outskirts, but near the inland village of Barao de Sao Joao, about 15km north-west of Lagos. You probably need a car to get there, but if you have one, it's a good day out, and well worth a trip, especially if you have children with you.
Despite a large sculpture of a gorilla at the entrance, Lagos Zoo has no apes, but the biggest attraction of the zoo is its large collection of primates: lemurs, but particularly monkeys including Gibbons (common pale ones as well as black Siamang variety), Capuchins, Squirrel Monkeys and so on. It has acres of beautiful, fine, white sand and teams of cleaners scour the beach at dawn and dusk to ensure it remains litter free. You can access it via the footbridge over the marina and then walk a further couple of 100 metres to the beach. Alternatively, there is a road which runs behind and parallel to the beach and you can catch a bus from the bus station to a number of stops along the route. Some of the hotels also run their own shuttle service. In general, the further from the town you go, the less busy th

[Praskipark, 31/05/2009] O Cangalho is a restaurant that is a little out of the way if you are staying in Lagos in the Algarve but worth a drive out. The owners of the business always had a quirky passion for owning strange creatures like llamas. Obviouisly, they were kept in the field next to the restaurant but children loved to visit just to stroke the llamas and play with terrapins and lizards alike. They have now opened a zoo.
O Cangalho is situated on the outskirts of a village named Barao de Sao Joao. Out of the ten years that I lived in the Algarve I spent 2 years living in this village so I didn't have fa

[Travelline, 16/12/2008] Lagos - The moast beautiful Algarve city. A maritime city which goes back 2000 years. The city of discoveries, where important navigators left to discover the unknown coast of Africa, with Slave market, Henry's Statue the Navigator, and the Santo António Golden Church.

Marina Rio Hotel in Lagos is one of my favourite hotels in the Algarve. My mum and aunt visit every year - sometimes twice. Every time I go back to my old home town I always stay in this small and friendly hotel. The staff are brilliant and always welcoming and if you are a frequent visitor they make a big fuss of you.
I remember seeing the hotel built which was around 1990 as my inlaws had a boat in the old harbour and we stayed on it for a while as we didn't move over until 1991. It is in a great location situated on the Avenida dos Descrobimentos ( the avenue of discoverers) which is
