Race To The Sky
[

, 27/06/2007] The History of the Petronas Towers. This was once classified as the worlds tallest structure but due to changes in measuring these things it falls a little short today to the Sears Tower in Chicago. These were designed by a Norwegian Dawid Muano and the construction got underway in 1995 and was completed in 1998. The 88 floors are mostly constructed of re-enforced concrete with a Stainless steel and Glass front. When we arrived through the ticket collection point we were shown a short video of the construction. In the video it stated that the design resembled that of a Islamic motif and was

A close encounter with the Twins
[

, 27/04/2007] Being a Civil Engineer, I am always fascinated with mega-structures - buildings, transport networks, tunnels, bridges, towers, dams, and other construction works having interesting characteristics; not only with the height but also in terms of how the structure was built as well as the amenities and features within it. One of them is the popular Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) as the second tallest building in the world which I visited in April 2004. The Twins (Petronas) stripped off the crown from Sears Tower, Chicago (US) where I also visited in 1997 a year before the Twi

Twin Tower Beauty
[

, 18/04/2007] The Petronas Towers are pretty magnificent. I have seen my fair share of tall buildings, but this building or rather these buildings are truly spectacular. By day they are two gleaming metal and glass structures reaching up into the sky, but by night they come alive. The shapes of the building are quite different from any other building I have come across, and the fact that there are two of them makes it all the more distinctive. They are the worlds tallest twin structures and reach a height of 452 meters, with 88 stories. In the middle, on levels 41 and 42, is the skybridge that join

This is a personal account of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur . The author states that the Towers were "once classified as the worlds tallest structure" and were "designed by a Norwegian, Dawid Muano". The towers consist of 88 floors, which "are mostly constructed of re-enforced concrete with a stainless steel and glass front ". The author gives details on obtaining tickets and states that "200 plus people were queuing to obtain tickets" by 08.30am. Visitors are advised to "get there early" on the day as "they only allow 1400 ticket sales in any one day". Once at the Towers you a
