Besides more than 44 000 items on display, the National Military Museum is perceived as the spiritual home of many veterans and offers an extensive library and archives. It also supplies exhibits to its counterpart in France and is often visited by local schools and armed forces trainees. The aviation collection of the museums exhibits several rare aircrafts, e. g. the only night fighter version of the German ME262 B-1a / U1.
