[07/05/2011] The main building was built in 1859 as a place for Hydropathic procedures popular in these times. These included mustard pads, massage, and all the latest Turkish, Russian and Electro-Chemical baths. The systems, coupled with the “tonic air from the moors had the effect of enhancing the popularity of this splendid hydro. The grounds were laid out with croquet, lawn tennis and a bowling alley for exercise in the summer months. Inside was a hall for indoor sports, concerts etc. The popularity waned towards the end of the 19th century and Ilkley became more of a holiday resort after the First Wo

[10/12/2010] The Cornucopia Hotel sounded ideal to us -
situated on the outskirts of the pretty Gozitan village of Xaghra, (pronounced Shara) on a high ridge with views over the valley down to the sea at Marsalforn, a small family run hotel away from the busier seaside villages but easy to reach the tourist places.
The Cornucopia is a converted farmhouse, and parts date back 300 years in the bar and lounge. Limestone walls and beautiful arched ceilings in the restaurant are typical of Gozo, lighting is subdued and lots of candlelight gives a romantic feeling, making this a popular hotel with young couple

[17/07/2009] In June, driving through the Arctic surroundings we were able to enjoy being in the Land of the Midnight sun. Wild reindeer roamed across the road but eventually we arrived and were able to explore the outside admiring the view, trying not to notice the cold and wind! There are round monuments created by 7 children from different parts of the world to symbolise co-operation, friendship, hope and joy across all borders. There is also a Mother and child sculpture. The Globe monument is a symbol of North cape and is at the edge of the cliffs.
The large visitor centre has an information desk, to

[02/07/2009] The Pines is a Victorian-style hotel, which was built in 1895 and stands within beautiful landscaped gardens and mature woodlands. I was surprised to see a sign saying they had won Britain in Bloom award for 4 years.
Comfortable rooms and great restaurant, close to M6. Rooms for conferences and separate suite for weddings. Friendly staff.
[30/06/2009] An unusual modern Parish church rather than a cathedral in Tromso. The shape represents a Sami tent and the sides are like the glaciers.
[26/06/2009] Large hotel on seafront at Folkestone.Rooms very basic and food more like a works canteen than a hotel. Popular with coach trips as entertainment is reasonable and cost is cheap.
[01/05/2009] A place for peaceful walks and exercise, to enjoy the countryside, for children to learn about animals.
[13/04/2009] The Hilton Gatwick Airport hotel, which is the only hotel at Gatwick Airport linked to the South Terminal by a covered walkway. It is just minutes from the North Terminal on the train and 30 minutes from central London. The Hilton does a Park and Fly package and had a car park opposite our side of the hotel. There are nearly 800 rooms and check in is after 3.00pm and check out by 12.00.
It was very convenient, the room was more than adequate, but had a few disappointing features. The food in Amy's restaurant was lovely although expensive, but service was poor for breakfast. Having said that

[06/02/2009] An interesting musuem telling the story of David Livingstone born in Blantyre in 1813 and just a factory boy, who grew up to become an African explorer and survived a fight with a lion.
There is an insight into the hard life led by factory workers in the 19th century. The lovely parkland, which originally was the Mill Manager's estate, has 20 acres for children to run around in and there is a beautiful garden with the River Clyde running alongside where you can listen to bird song and enjoy the peace.
The visitor centre has a shop and ac afe so you can get a snack, or a coffee whilst look

[31/01/2009] Modern airport, about 30 minutes taxi ride from Funchal, the journey there has been improved by the opening of motorways. The airport runways have been extended as before it was a hit and miss if the plane could stop before reaching the end of the runway and take off again!
Plenty of car parking and room for coaches to take people to hotels.
Check in desks run quite smoothly and we have always got through there quite easily. It is worth staying in the duty free area until nearly time to go to gate as there is only 1 very small coffee bar serving very little food and not many toilets once yo
