[LovesTravel, 09/08/2010] When Pope John Paul II visited and prayed at Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, he spoke eloquently about his personal sorrow and the Catholic Church's sorrow over the tragedies that have befallen the Jewish people throughout history.
Predictably, Israeli responses to the Pope's visit varied considerably. Some Israelis regarded the pontiff's presence in Israel and his expressions of concern about the Holocaust as much too little far too late. Nonetheless, most expressed appreciation for this visit to Jerusalem and for the Pope's outright rejection of Christian a

If you are looking for a quiet accommodation to relax after a busy day of sightseeing and walking, this is the perfect place to rest. The house is surrounded by a colorful garden with all sorts of herbs, trees and flowers, which are lovingly looked after by Ilana's husband Avi. The garden is an oasis to read a book or just listen to the birds singing.

[ChocolateLady, 05/08/2008] Just outside of Jerusalem up the road from the very friendly Arab village of Abu Gosh you'll find this Kibbutz Hotel which is located on the top of the hill. With its large clean rooms, and lots of facilities for groups, weddings and other events, this hotel has kept itself up to par for as long as I've known it. Over the years, the hotel has expanded and now has both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and other gym facilities. Plus with it being so high up, evenings are very cool and comfortable even in the dead of summer. A lovely place to relax or hold your meetings or celebrations.

[ChocolateLady, 01/08/2008] On top of a hill in the Judean mountains just outside of Jerusalem you'll find a Kibbutz that sports one of the nicer hotels in the area. Neve Ilan is great for a romantic weekend stay, family stay or even to host your wedding or group event. I've been here so many times I can't even count. I've never been disappointed by anything and am always willing to go back.

The heat wave we had encountered on our arrival was still going strong but it was much better to endure in Jerusalem whose hills are 800m above sea level, humidity is only about 40% there, sometimes even less.
We set out in the afternoon to get a first glimpse of the Old City, the historical and religious heart of Jerusalem. Our hotel was near the Damascus Gate, one of the eight gates (of which seven are still in use) o
