This hotel comes with an overall "exceptional" rating from Frommer's for a number of reasons starting with the "elegant" setting where one can "savor the splendors of country life". The views of "the surrounding waterways" and a "local deer colony" add to the feeling of grandeur the place exudes. In fact, according to the writer, it is "the grandest place to stay" with its "magnificent" front door and the entrance hall comes complete with log fire. Guests walk up the "wide" staircase to get to rooms that are simply "baronial" with their furniture chosen "individually" providing a mixture of "style" and "comfort". The restaurant at this hotel is "known" for its "refined Scottish" food which uses mainly "local produce".
