Even if you don't know this hotel, you must have "dreamt" of it, at least that's what Jay Rayner says about the Isle of Eriska Hotel, the kind of place "fantasies" are made of. This comes in part from the architecture of the place, as "Scottish baronial" style was heavily reminiscent of "myths and legends". The author notes that the building looks as though it had been added to "over centuries" but this was part of the design as it was "built in one go". The hotel also sits "on its own 300-acre island". Being situated on an island, this hotel is "one of the best places to escape", particularly as the road to get there was all "mountains plung[ing] into the sea" and islands "float[ing] on the horizon". The general look of the hotel could be judged in two ways; either "Scottish Baronial glor[y]" or to some people "monstrosit[y]". Despite having "a crenellated tower", we are assured that the hotel represents "the utmost comfort". The baronial theme continues inside with "much canopied" and much "carpeted" rooms.
