    Kaiser's Throne is located above the village of Pelekas, you will need some form of transport to get here as it is not close to any of the tourist resorts.     This was the first holiday abroad for my wife and I 1988, so at the time we had little experience of beaches abroad. We stopped in a hotel called the Iliessa and you could walk out of the hotels grounds straight onto the beach.     Paleokastritsa is located on the west side of Corfu and the monastery is up a fairly steep snaking tarmac road, hard going if your very unfit. Once at the top there is a taverna if you need refreshments. Entrance into the monastery is free but their is a box available for any donations.     The restaurant is located below the road through Paleokastritsa, 15 steps lead down to the dining area, luckily there is a menu located at the entrance which saves you the trip down if you do not fancy anything.     Located on the outskirts of Paleokastritsa and built into the cliff face above the Ionian sea. La Grotta is not easily accessible as you have to go down 142 uneven and STEEP steps to reach the bar, you need to sit down and have a drink after that but be careful how much you drink as you have to go back up.
