Compiled for you: The facts!Details Inverness Highland Games
| Description: |
The Highland Games take place over two days in July each year. Events comprise the traditional mix of athletics, Highland dancing and piping competitions. The emphasis is on "heavy" athletics such as shot putting, hammer throwing, tug-of-war and tossing the caber. The origin of these particular games is lost in history but there are records of fund-raising in 1821 to revive the Games and they have continued ever since. Other attractions surrounding the Games include a concert, clan gathering, funfair and craft stalls. The Games are staged in the large Bught Park and entrance is unlikely to be limited. |
