Despite "staring really, really hard" into the Loch from Urquhart castle, this reviewer saw "no shadowy hump skimming smoothly across the surface". Along with "hundreds of thousands" of other monster spotters, she "never" did see Nessie. But still, her eyes kept "wandering over", so much so that she was suffering from "blink deprivation".
The castle is "prime Nessie real estate" but the water is "so dark and silty" it hides "anything" that might be "below the surface". Add to that the "impenetrable reflections" made by the hills all around and the "bristling ripples" that are seen everywhere and you see where the "false hope" comes from.
After much watching, hoping, and being disappointed, she realised that "that if you're looking for it, it won't appear".
There were "many sightings" of the "the biggest star of the sea monster world" in the past, but the beast is "turning reclusive".
And then, she had a sighting of the monster, or rather she understood that it is "our curiosity" which keeps "the monster" alive.
