[jeffjen, 15/09/2011] I love Scotland and visit as many times as I possibly can, enjoying the scenery, lochs, towns and villages as well as the hospitality of the friendly Scottish people and I have made quite a few friends north of the border.
One place I have always wanted to visit was Loch Ness and finally this year I got my wish whilst staying in Inverness for a couple of days.
Over 20 miles long, a mile wide and 700 feet at its deepest, Loch Ness is the largest lake in Scotland by volume, lying along a natural geographic fault line that stretches across the breadth of the country.
As we drove up to Inverness

[jeffjen, 05/09/2011] We needed a place to stay in Inverness for a couple of nights recently, having booked tickets for a concert which was taking place in the city.
I had checked the hotel websites such as Premier Inn, Travelodge etc but on finding out about the concert taking place they had hiked their prices up, with Premier Inn actually charging £118 for one night's stay on the night of the concert! I was not prepared to pay their hugely inflated prices so began looking elsewhere.
At this time of year the guest houses in Inverness are busy accomodating the tourists who flock to the area and I was informed that

[hannah_i, 12/07/2011] If you're in Scotland, there are few other highlights comparable with Loch Ness. It's definitely an exciting attraction, especially for children, in the somewhat sleepy and remote town of Inverness. It is quite far to drive from the other major towns in Scotland, but if you have a day to spare and its only a few hours drive from where you off, then you should definitely visit. Feeling like you're in the middle of nowhere, sitting beside the beautiful Loch Ness is a great experience for the whole family.
[station47, 19/06/2011] I booked this hotel for a relaxing weekend as a surprise for my fiancee so that we could recharge our batteries from a busy workload of late and on looking at this hotel its 4 star appeal and location looked ideal.
How wrong can you be.
On the outset it may well look like a 4 star hotel and indeed some parts may well be but certainly not in the room we stayed in.
The room looked very tired and was in need of some major refit and refurb, the shower screen was broken, water marks on the ceiling, dirty linen, we found a blood stained pillow after our first night and left it out to be re

[tb240904, 27/05/2011] Eastgate Backpackers Hostel may not have much to offer but it's great considering how cheap it is. It was only £9 per night. Alright, you have to share a room with strangers and people come and go at all hours but I really didn't have much to complain about.
My room, which could accommodate six people, had a sink, individual lockers for each guest, 5 electricity outlets (plenty to keep my laptop and phone going, although 4 were hidden) and a big window, although the view wasn't too good. There was also a communal kitchen, lounge and toilet / shower facilities.
The people in my room were really

I went almost every day of my five day trip to the city but, unfortunately, it rained every single time so I didn't get to complete the riverside walk. What I saw of it though was beautiful. The banks are covered in colourful flowers and the bridges are really something. Some of them date back centuries. I also saw some birds sitting in the middle of the river where the water level had dropped to reveal a very small island, which was also a nice sight. There are also benches all a

[jimbanks, 10/03/2011] Stayed at the maple court with my wife and two children, the family room was spacious and very comfortable!
The food and level of service was of a standard beyond our expectations and very reasonably priced.
would definately stay again and would recommend it to any friends planning a trip to Inverness!
[afarmer2011, 28/02/2011] Although somewhat pricey as GuestHouses go, the Carisbrooke lodge still delivers value for money especially in a City where prices seem quite high in general.
The hostess goes out of her way to make you feel welcome, and the breakfast served is of the highest quality including a cooked element served to your personal order with general attention to detail.
The rooms are nice, with a homely feel, including a full function freeview TV (not satellite as some websites say). The bed is comfortable with more cushions and pillows than you’ll need. There is free bottled water, biscuits, little

[micksheff, 06/08/2010] It was such a miserable day when I was recently in Inverness that we were playing a game with the dark threatening clouds that kept appearing and trying to time our indoor activities to miss the worst of the rain. The problem with Inverness unfortunately is that the majority of the attractions are outdoor so the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery was an obvious place of refuge and thankfully the rain held off until we reached it. To be honest you can't really miss this place, Inverness is a small compact town and it is well sign-posted but just in case you're struggling to locate it, it sits dir

[bonsibabe, 13/08/2006] Fort George is situated just about 18 kilometres outside Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands of Scotland. Inverness is my home town and in my opinion, one of the best places in Scotland to visit.
Fort George is a working military garrison as well as a monument and museum.
Situated near the picturesque village of Ardersier, this Fort was built in the 18th Century, following the Jacobite uprising and the Battle of Culloden (the last battle to be fought on British soil). The King decided that he needed to keep troops in the area to keep the Highlanders under control. To this end h
