[jeffjen, 15/09/2011] I love Scotland and visit as many times as I possibly can, enjoying the scenery, lochs, towns and villages as well as the hospitality of the friendly Scottish people and I have made quite a few friends north of the border. One place I have always wanted to visit was Loch Ness and finally this year I got my wish whilst staying in Inverness for a couple of days. [hannah_i, 12/07/2011] If you're in Scotland, there are few other highlights comparable with Loch Ness. It's definitely an exciting attraction, especially for children, in the somewhat sleepy and remote town of Inverness. It is quite far to drive from the other major towns in Scotland, but if you have a day to spare and its only a few hours drive from where you off, then you should definitely visit. Feeling like you're in the middle of nowhere, sitting beside the beautiful Loch Ness is a great experience for the whole family.

Despite "staring really, really hard" into the Loch from Urquhart castle, this reviewer saw "no shadowy hump skimming smoothly across the surface". Along with "hundreds of thousands" of other monster spotters, she "never" did see Nessie. But still, her eyes kept "wandering over", so much so that she was suffering from "blink deprivation". The castle is "prime Nessie real estate" but the water is "so dark and silty" it hides "anything" that might be "below the surface".
