Description: A visit to Inveraray Jail affords you the opportunity to sit in the courtroom, discover what sort of torture was used, try out a hammock, peep at a prisoner in a bath and see what they had to eat. Try out the airing cages and experience being locked up. Men, women and children were locked up here. Catering for all nationalities, the prison is geared up to take large parties and schools, as well as the casual visitor.
Fortunately they do have modern toilet facilities for visitors and a shop with gifts to remind you of your visit both to the jail and Scotland. Opening hours from April to October are 9h30 to 18h00 and November to March 10h00 to 17h00, with extended hours during July and August.
