[weetoon, 13.11.2006] Despite "parts of the hotel" having undergone renovation work, the place still looks like "a tartan explosion". The staff are "very welcoming" and can be "helpful whenever approached". The spa, "newly-opened" has a good selection of "indulgent treatments". Breakfast was a "hearty porridge" as well as the local "Loch Fyne kippers" which were "great". Otherwise, the food is "what you'd expect" from a hotel situated by "one of Scotland's most famous sea lochs", with shellfish on offer, but also "other traditional Scottish fare". The drive to reach the hotel is "fantastic" and the hotel itself is "close" to Inveraray. There is plenty to do in the area for the "very active" such as quad biking or golfing (guests benefit from "preferential [...] rates"), and for the "less active", there are plenty of "peaceful country walks", or they could visit nearby "Inveraray Jail" museum. Overall, the reviewer found his stay to be not only "enjoyable", but also "relaxing".
