Insel Skopelos

The Panormos beach is located about 12km from the island capital Skopelos Town. It is on the main road to Glossa where the local bus passes. We visited the beach a couple of times in June and the beach was almost deserted. A tree was used for our shade but there was a few sunbeds with parasols for hire. With the bay being sheltered it can get very hot here as there seems to be little or no wind. The beach is long but not very wide and is covered in smooth pebbles these can be arranged for laying on and can be quite comfortable. Looking out to the Aegean and listening to the small waves caused by passing boats lapping against the pebbles is so relaxing. It is not long before the clear green/blue waters are calling me in for a dip. Best to wear some form of shoes as the pebbles get very hot and it is more comfortable to walk on. The water feels warm and is shallow to start with, it then deepens but not too quickly. It is beautiful to swim in and snorkeling is easy for beginners due to the calm sea, my wife learned how to snorkel here. Fish are few and far between but there are a few sea urchin you know them the spiky critters that can really hurt if you stand on them another good reason to wear something on your feet.
There are a couple of tourist shops and we think there was about 3 tavernas one at each end beside the beach and one across the road. The one across the road was the one we used. The food was tasty and reasonably priced and with it being slightly higher than the beach the views where better. The waiter here told us this was the best time of year to visit due to it being cooler and a lot less tourists. In the peak of season the beach is totally covered with people with noisy motor boats doing water sports. This is a beach you can not miss if travelling to Skopelos so relaxing wish I was there now.
