[11/10/2009] I was delighted to stumble upon this hidden gem in the back streets of Sarria neighbourhood.
It stood out on a Friday night as somewhere with a variety of tantalising local foods in the window, including a giant bowl of eclectic wild mushrooms, and an easy modern style in a small package of a restaurant. I tried to get a seat impromptu but was forced to get the hotel to call up the next day to make a booking as Friday night was fully booked. I'm glad I did as i was in for a treat & could easily have booked up 3 nights in a row. I'll likely be going back tonight, despite the fact that it is

[10/10/2009] Hotel Eurostars Angeli is a super modern glass frame hotel perched within the pleasant northern suburbs of Barcelona.
It is a refreshing break from the hubub of the town centre and a great spot to visit the tourist attractions of the city if you are taking a break...like me ;-)
The hotel is incongruously modern sitting with a pretty residential neighbourhood with historic buildings.
The hotel has a pool, which doesn't look that nice but on a hot day would be welcome, parking and a restaurant (which looks a bit dead in October).
I had a good walk to Parc Guell and is a stones throw from the

[10/10/2009] I was bowled over by Parc Guell. It is a magical dreamland of fairy tales. The buildings look like they have stepped out of a surreal dream, all curves, colours and full of surprises.
The more you look at all the pathways and even the main terrace however, you realise what an impressive landscape Gaudi has dreamt up. it is all suspended and built onto the side of the hill top - a wonderful feet of engineering that blends into the lanscape so that it almost feels natural.
Certainly a not to be missed site in Barcelona - a real treat.
Tips:
- Try not to go at weekends (like I did). Hectic

[09/10/2009] I was very happy with my stay at Diagonal Zero. It is a new hotel, with well designed rooms, friendly staff and pleasant public spaces.
It has a fun pool on the roof (which will be even better when building works next door are finished) and a comfortable outdoor area for eating & drinking.
[19/10/2008] The hotel has a clean and fresh modern appearance. I have always peeked in and thought it looked rather smart but it is really a mid-range hotel. Gets the thumbs up from me. It is bang on Tremont and within a stones throw of Boston Common, Fannieul Hall and many of the historic attractions of Boston.
Bonus: Free wireless. Well done! Why don't more hotels have this?
[03/10/2008] Not sure about this. Yes, it was handy to be on the doorstep of the NEC but it felt like a trap. Expensive restaurant, grim institutional feel and pokey room. Rather unsatisfying.
[18/09/2008] I was quite excited to be staying at the Langham as it looks quite smart on the outside. However, I was not that impressed - it felt, well, a bit pokey and not as top notch as I expected. The detail seemed lacking - a pen that didn't work in the room and nothing but broken silly little umbrellas for you to borrow. Not rushing to go back i have to say.
[18/09/2008] I was impressed by the Dorint Hotel, very convenient for the Messe conference hall. The hotel was modern and a fun place to stay.
[07/09/2008] I was delighted by my visit to Falkland Palace and I confess I didn't even get to see it all. I went specifically to see and play at the Royal Tennis Court, which was tremendous. Apparently it is the oldest existing tennis court in the world dating from the late 16th Century. Mary Queen of Scots played there in her britches! The gardens are extremely pretty and well worth a visit. Sorry to say I didn't have time to peek inside the castle on this occassion.
[07/09/2008] Would love to know if someone else had a better experience but i rather felt let down by The New Northumbria hotel. The hotel seemed like somewhere better suited to a stag party than someone taking a weekend break or on business. The hotel seemed to be perched on top of a disco and a bar. It was also a hotel where the walls seemed thin and every footstep or squeek in the corridoor would reverberate into the room. I would make an effort to find another hotel. To be fair the staff at the front desk were utterly charming (unlike those at breakfast who denied someone breakfast who was abou
