This modern hotel, a former prison built in 1888 and completely renovated in 2007, presents a world of contrasts. The old red-brick prison walls open up to reveal 106 magnificent rooms, 3 of which are Junior Suites equipped with saunas. The old church of the prison has been remodelled into an astonishing festival and conference hall with a capacity of 130 people. On the terrace, guests can relax beneath the old maple trees and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. Guests can experience an unforgettably luxurious jail term in this historical prison of Katajanokka! Facilities include a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, currency exchange and lift access. There is a bar and an on-site restaurant. Room and laundry services are available for an additional fee; there is wireless Internet access, bike hire (fees apply) and a car park (fees apply).
Kaerajaan is situated in the heart of the city centre on the famous Old Town Square of Tallinn.
The restaurant is located on the first floor with about 50 seats. The ground floor contains the cafe with about 40 seats. The place is named after an Estonian folk dance and song, which was made about a well-known Estonian man who was constantly eating in his kitchen.
Kaerajaan is rated as 29th out of a list of 50 within the best restaurants in Estonia. It is traditional with a modern twist in interior, menu and music. The ceiling is decorated with national ornaments, lampshades are covered with woollen mittens, but the furniture and crockery is quite modern. The menu presents a haute cuisine with Estonian flavours.

The Old Town is the historical part of Tallinn situated in the heart of the city centre. It avoided significant damage during the attacks of the enemy troops. The majority of the buildings have survived from the11th to the 15th century. The stone houses withstood in the flames of fire and the wall of the Old Town is considered to be one of the best preserved ancient city walls in Northern Europe.
In 1997 the Old Town of Tallinn was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as an example of a well preserved medieval northern European trading city.
This part of the town includes buildings like the Tallinn Town Hall, Town Hall Pharmacy, St. Olav’s Church, St. Nicholas’s Church, Kiek-in-de-Kök, Maiden Tower, Great Coastal Gate and Fat Margaret's Tower, Viru Gates, St. Catherine's Passage, Toompea Castle, Dominican Monastery, Church of the Holy Ghost, Danish King's Garden, Great Guild Hall, House of the Brotherhood of Black Heads and several medieval living houses.
Peppersack is a medieval restaurant with the appropriate interior and menu. It is located in one of the oldest buildings in the Old Town area of Tallinn, the first mention of which was found in writings dating back to the year 1370. Its present name was first mentioned in 1520, and it means " a bag of pepper", which decorates the exterior view of the restaurant.
The interior of Peppersack has tall ceilings with wooden beams, painted in the original style. Plus unique twisted ladders made of wood and uneven walls, covered with a dark patina of candles and torches. There are waiters in medieval costumes and heavy wooden tables. Every day at around 8pm a sword fight takes place, followed by oriental dancing on Fridays and Saturdays.
The restaurant and barbeque menu includes pork, beef, chicken duck, lamb and fish dishes, the breakfast menu - English, Estonian and Russian breakfasts.
