The Marriott Heidelberg is a rather larger hotel on the Neckar river. It's not really in the city center, but quite close. The service was excellent, the room comfortable, but one of the old-style ones. There's a hotel garage for 18 euros per day.

We had a junior suite which was nice, with a lounge area in the larger part of the room and a small sleeping corner with a king size bed adjoining. There was a minibar in the room and a huge flat TV with digital TV reception. The bed was very comfortable, the windows could be slightly opened. The bathroom was looking old and a bit small for a suite room, but everything was in working order. There was a bathtub with a shower head. The room looked already a bit tired in terms of furniture, but they've started already to refit the rooms, we just got one of the old ones.

There's a restaurant and a wellness area in the hotel with a pool and a terrace by the river. We had just continental breakfast on the terrace of the executive lounge which came with nice views over the river and the castle in the back. Check-in was very friendly, upgrade granted, check-out was also smooth and the bill was allright. The lobby is quite large but still a bit 80s style. There's a parking garage in the hotel, but they charge 18 Euros per day.

The breakfast was limited in choice but that's due to the fact that we had it in the lounge and not in the main restaurant. Due to the short stay we didn't take any other food in the hotel.
