In the summer of 2008, during our family holiday on one of the Canary Islands - Lanzarote, I visited many wonderful places. One of them was the Tropical Park Guinate, famous mostly with it's parrot show and bug cactus gardens.
I saw many exotic animals - meercats, turtles, lizards, iguanas, giant gold fishes.
But the most interesting were the birds. I looked face to face with an ostrich. I touched a toucan on his tail. I even managed to make a photo of a white peacock that was feeding her little one. I found that penguins can feel great even at 30-degree temperatures - it turned out that, contrary to common understanding, they not only live in a cold climate, like Antarctica - three species live in the tropics. At one time the whole group found ourselves in a huge cage and all the birds were flying freely around us. It was an incredible experience!
But the most amazing of all animals in the park were the parrots - those flying freely around us, and those starring the parrot show. I saw a parrot who was riding a bicycle, a parrot playing basketball and scored baskets, a parrot-saver, who placed coins in his piggy money-box, a parrot, whose car broke down and he opened the trunk to fix it, and a parrot who could count to ten.
We walked among beautiful gardens of palms, cactuses, aloe and other exotic plants. It was very beautiful!
