Bernina Express

The Bernina Express is a train that is operated by the Swiss rail network, Rhätische Bahn. It runs between Chur and St Moritz. Both first and second class tickets are available and pre-booking is recommended. A discount of 20% is available for large groups of over 10 people, plus every tenth person travels free. The cost of a standard second class ticket between Thusis and Bergen is 27CHF (17 Euros). The journey from Chur to St Moritz is about 130km and takes approximately 1.5 hours. Trains run daily every hour and operate between 9am and 6pm.

Glacier Express

The journey from St. Moritz to Zermatt lasts approximately seven-and-a-half hours and takes in many of the sights of the Swiss Alps.On-board bar and dining facilities are available.

Segantini Museum

Built in 1908, this museum displays works by symbolist painter Giovanni Segantini. Of particular note is a large triptych with an Alpine theme called "la vita - la natura - la morte" (life - nature - death). Although born in Italy in 1858, the painter lived in Switzerland from 1886 and died in 1899.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 am and 12 noon and between 2 pm and 6 pm. Closed in November.

Wild Girls on Snow

Wild Girls on Snow is an annual charity event for women skiers which is held in the Swiss resort of Klosters. Teams of three women plus a 'celebrity' or person of their choice compete in a series of ski and social challenges. The event raises money for charities in both Switzerland and the UK and has raised more than 440 000 Swiss Francs in eight years.

Jazz Days Davos Sounds Good

Held at various venues throughout Davos, this festival of Jazz music occurs in July and features international musicians. As many of the venuses are open-air and ticket control is therefore difficult, the system operates by way of a "pin" which can be purchased at many hotels and Davos Tourism for 30CHF.
