Galata Museo del Mare

Galata Museo del Mare

The museum opened in 2004 and is located at Porto Antico. The sea and navigation museum takes you through the maritime history with full size replica ships, historic scenes maps and atlases. Tours are available but must be prebooked. Closed Mondays Opening hours: March - October 10.00am - 7.30pm November - February 10.00am - 6.00pm The homepage is only available in Italian but it does show some photos.

Piazza Fontane Marose

The square is named after fountains that were built in 1568 but were destroyed to make way for newer buildings in the nineteenth century. The square is also part of the Palazzi dei Rolli which is a UNESCOs World Heritage site. Once used for equestrian tournaments, the piazza has several interesting buildings around it including the Palazzo Spinola, Palazzo Negrone and the Palazzo Pallavicino.
