[martanikolova, 17/01/2012] The English garden is a lovely park, I really liked it a lot. I was lucky to be in Geneva in April and the weather was wonderful, so I could enjoy the whole charm and beauty of the park. It is located right next to Geneva lake, so you will see it for sure if you also want to see two of the major landmarks in Geneva - the flower clock and the water jet. The entire park was green and very, very clean, I was really impressed by the cleanliness of the entire area. There was a very nice fountain there, too, which adds even more charm to the beautiful park.
[martanikolova, 17/01/2012] Located in the English garden in Geneva, the flower clock is a masterpiece, which only proves the brilliancy and accuracy of the Swiss. Made out of 6500 flowers, which are strictly maintained and frequently replaced, this is one of the most beautiful sceneries you will see in Geneva. Everyone knows the famous Swiss watches and clocks, they are known all over the world and what better way to show once again to the whole world what the Swiss can do than making a wonderful clock made out of flowers? I really enjoyed this item, the clock is really very accurate and extremely beautiful.
[martanikolova, 17/01/2012] This is something you won't see everywhere. A powerful jet of water going high up for more than 100 meters above the water. It is an impressive scenery in the Geneva lake. You can view the water fountain from many spots around the shores of the lake and it is no wonder this is one of the most famous landmarks in the city. It is a great tourist attraction everyone visiting Geneva should see.
[seine7, 02/06/2011] We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. This hotel is a wonderful hotel. What we like about it is the following: the beds are the most comfortable beds we have experienced in Europe; the bathtub is easy to get in and out of; the shower head is very modern; the electrical outlets are positioned in very convenient places; they supply a high end hair dryer in the room; the small night light at the edge of the bed; the front desk is very helpful; the location is great; the hotel is very modern. We already have prepaid for another stay.
[fizzytom, 21/06/2010] For us, trying new beers is one of the must do activities of any holiday. Unfortunately (but also fortunately as it means you can drink some of these beers at home too) the increase in the choice of imported beers and lagers in the UK means that it is harder to find something new when you travel abroad, and you’ll find the same beers cropping up everywhere you go. At a bar in Croatia last year I was disappointed to find that they only sold Heineken, a beer I can drink virtually anywhere in England and buy at any supermarket. The Croatians have a number of perfectly good beers that, as a touris

[fizzytom, 21/06/2010] In Geneva I saw the funniest thing; two middle-aged Japanese tourists lying on the ground in front of a flower bed,It appeared to be the only way to get both the women and the entire flower bed into one frame. Now this may be a rather pretty flower bed and notable because it is actually a clock, but it’s still a flower bed and lying on the ground to have one’s photograph taken beside it struck me as more than a little excessive.
To start with I find the practice of appearing in one’s own holiday photographs pretty pointless; is it perhaps to prove that you were actually there? I’ve never u

[fizzytom, 20/06/2010] One of the first things you notice, as a visitor to Geneva, is just how much accommodation there is. With several at the airport and seemingly loads of hotels on every city centre street, not to mention those in the suburbs, Geneva teems with hotel accommodation. In spite of the abundance of hotel beds, accommodation is fairly expensive and, wishing to save our cash to spend on other things, we opted for a city centre hostel instead; even so, at a whopping £54 (based on converting from 87 CHF) a night for our twin room, the accommodation could not be considered cheap.
We booked the hostel

[debmercury, 01/03/2010] On a recent trip to Geneva friends had recommended we visit here. The Cafe de Paris is on the Rue de Mont-Blanc and is fairly central and close to the railway station.
After Checking in at our hotel we went for a stroll to see if we could locate this place for our evening meal. It was easy to find and only about ten minutes away from our hotel (EastWest Hotel on the Rue Des Paquis).
Booking a Table
It is best to book a table here because it gets really busy and people que outside for a table. We booked a table for 8.30.

[debmercury, 14/02/2010] The Hotel
The Eastwest hotel is a trendy four star hotel and has thirty seven guestrooms, two junior suites and two suites which open onto an open air patio. All the rooms are really modern and decorated to a very high standard in purple and red tones with dark wood and wooden parquet flooring.
Checking In
You enter the hotel through glass doors and reception is on your right. The entrance and reception area is well maintained and spotlessly clean. Checking in is straight forward enough you just need to give in your passport upon arrival and fill in a details card with

[techlady, 17/07/2009] This family-run chalet-like hotel has small, tidy rooms with good beds and, in some, spectacular views of the mountains. In the summer, it can be quite economical. It also has a pleasant restaurant serving local specialties. Quiet and close to the center of town, it is a welcome respite while touring the Sion / Val d'Herens area.
[koshkha, 24/06/2009] Serendipity - it's a great word, isn't it? One online dictionary defines it as "The faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident" and I'm a fan of such accidental discoveries. Our most recent was the Musee Ariana in Geneva. What's the chance that my husband and I, wandering around looking for the Red Cross Museum and the United Nations building, will stumble across museum dedicated to two arts that we're passionate about? We love glass and ceramics and as we walked from the bus stop to the Red Cross museum, we just happened to see the signs for the Musee Ariana which as luck would have

[koshkha, 16/06/2009] Like many people, I've never given much thought to the Red Cross. It's not that I'm ignorant of world affairs but it's the sort of organisation many of us take for granted. The 'Geneva Conventions' are similar; a phrase we all trot out whenever someone somewhere is doing something that commonsense says is naughty but not something I really know much about. Other than a vague sense that when the four horsemen of the apocalypse saddle up and head off to visit some godforsaken part of the world you can guarantee that the Red Cross will be close behind, I can honestly say it was an organisation I

[jaguar, 11/06/2009] One of the worst places I ever stayed. And one of the most "unhomely" places as Rough Guide of Switzerland correctly states. I newly arrived in Switzerland and my employer booked me in there. But I was asked to pay upfront and when I showed my credit card, I was told that it would be 10% more. Do they expect people to walk round loaded with loads of cash?
On top of that they first stated that breakfast was included in the price and later told me that this only applies if you don't stay for more than a week.
I was also asked to sign a paper that I'd clean my room myself and that I need

[Helencbradshaw, 12/01/2008] Hotel Comedie is a three star property in Geneve's City Centre, on the busy Rue de Carouge. It was business, rather than pleasure that took me there for my recent one month stay.
The actual purpose of my trip was also hotel related, in that I was working with a project team on a system roll out for one of the most luxurious brands in the world. Unfortunately, at the time of my arrival they did not have a hotel in Geneve City..and they always book this place for visitors, as it is convenient to the office.
The website gives away very little too, in fact it is nothing more than their name
