This is the first museum of this kind in Bulgaria. It is a place, which was able to store some of our traditions and crafts and is really unique. The complex is like a small ancient village, which transfers you years back and shows you our architecture, our crafts and our traditions that are still alive there. You can enjoy there the crafts of pottery, woodcarving, harness-making, icons painting, weaving, etc. You can buy souvenirs; you can see the water-powered facilities like the water mills, the saw mill, etc. There are also some interesting exhibition houses worth seeing. I visited the place a few times and each time I feel the same magical spirit around the place. It is amazing to witness all that is happening and some of the sweets that are produced there are absolutely delicious.
There is a hotel in the complex for those who want to stay right next to the museum. I stayed there once, but I wasn't impressed by it. There are also a few places you could have some lunch - there is a restaurant in the hotel and there is a Bulgarian tavern. I haven't tried the tavern, so I can't say anything about it, but I have eaten in the restaurant and it was Ok.
