[boogaerts, 05/08/2009] very bad location:traffic and barking dogs will keep you awake at night!!!Good point for swimmingarea but definetely not to recommend to quiet and revitalizing holidays!Zero points for general manager;she studied at Alcatraz......
[Praskipark, 26/05/2009] I feel that I have to mention the Botanical gardens or otherwise known as Jardim Botanico. It is one of the most visited attractions on the island of Madeira. The gardens cover an area of 80,000 square metres and it is home to approximately 2000 different species of plants. Set in a super location with the mountains in the background you are able to have a panoramic view of the city below and the clear blue waters of it's perfect bay. You can take a cable car ride from here up to Monte which is a historical village with a beautiful church and here the famous toboggan rides take place in whicker

[jo145, 12/01/2009] The Royal Savoy resort hotel is built overlooking the sea and I think that nearly every room and suite must have a sea view. This is mostly a suite hotel with large rooms and is well furnished.
Choice of restaurants, and bars, plenty of lounges, a spa and 3 outdoor pools, two sea water and one of these was heated and a fresh water heated pool, plus two children's splash pools, plenty of sun beds and padded mattresses and also umbrellas.
Guests can also use all facilities are the neighbouring Savoy hotel reached by a bridge over the road.

[trivago traveller, 26/11/2007] We've just come back from a week in Choupana and had a great time. It's up in the hills about 15 mins (€18 euros) from the centre of Funchal although the hotel do provide a courtesy bus at various time during the day.
Very peaceful, relaxing place with a nice clientele. Their Xopana restaurant is of a very high standard.
No complaints at all and the service through out was top notch. Would definitely go back even for a relaxing weekend retreat.
The indoor pool, spa, gym (small), steam room and sauna are well integrated with the rest of the hotel which makes for easy use. A well sto

[jessieleo, 07/10/2007] The cable cars which take you from the heart of Funchal, the capital of Madeira, up to the village of Monte offer breathtaking views. We were lucky enough to travel on them in September 2006, on an especially sunny, clear day. Obviously the views and whole experience will not be as brilliant if the weather is gloomy or it is raining. However the scenery should still be worth seeing and it is a quick and easy way to get to Monte.
Monte is a small village with wonderful views down to the coast area of Funchal. Monte has the Tropical Gardens, a smaller garden with a restaurant attached, a rath

[jessieleo, 01/10/2007] Visiting Funchal, on the Island of Madeira, we decided to take the cable car up to Monte. The village of Monte sits high above Funchal and offers spectaular views, on a clear day.The cable car sets of from near the bus station in Funchal. The price is reasonable if you buy a return but a little pricey for one way. The views are fabulous and the day we visited it was a warm, clear-skied September day. The journey is failry high in places but I did not find it too troublesome and I am not a lover of heights. As you land at Monte, high above the coast the views are a treat. If you do not want the

[buzzard_cad, 03/03/2007] The staff were great, the food was good and the rooms were really excellent. I would recommend this hotel to couples and young families alike. I would not recommend this hotel to families with teenagers as I think there is little to do for them. The only real disadvantage that I could see with this hotel is that there is no lift or ramped access for any guests confined to a wheelchair. It is a shame as this would be the perfect place to rest, relax and spend some time by the pool.
