Visited this hotel 11 time since my first visit in Autumn 2001. Personally managed by the owner, it sets the standard for all hotels in Europe to follow in terms of service. From the front desk to the room attendants, from the bar to the superb restaurants, everyone really knows how to please the guests. Food in every outlet is of the highest quality, personally managed by the chef of 25 years service. Excellent selection of local wines managed by the sommelier of 21 years service, and a wonderfully atmospheric bar open until the last person leaves, again efficiently run by another manager with more than 20 years service. Breakfast is the most gigantic spread ever experienced; 6 local cheeses, smoked salmon, home-baked pastries, a dozen breads and rolls, local preserves, schwarzwalder schinken, 6 fruit salads plus a tree of red and black berries, cereals, 2 yoghurts and champagne---start at 6am so you can still eat lunch either on the terrace under the chestnut trees or in the michelin 1-star restaurant where you can dine on a superb 3-course set lunch for around 28 Euros; but splash-out on a superb bottle of Dr. Heger oak-aged GRAUBURGUNDER TO GO WITH YOUR FILLETS OF VEAL IN A MOREL SAUCE with leek gnocci and creamy kohlrabi. The fastidiously clean spa and health centre will help you lose all those calories just in time to go back for dinner in the rustic stube with it's green-tiled oven, wonderfully atmospheric in the winter, and finish the night-off by trying to choose a selection of cheeses from the 30-or-so on the cart. Although this is our "secret place", I want to share it with everyone who cares about quality, and about being around people who have a PASSION for their life, as the owner Herr. Burtsche has. Go now before he puts the prices up, and if you ask for him by name you should get a good discount!!!
