We went to the Archäologisches Museum during the Night of Museums on 25Apr09. The price of the tickets was €12 per person for 46 participated museums. The entrance fee is €6 but it is free for the last Saturday of the month. The museum is closed on Mondays. The interior of the museum is quite nice and it's got a very high ceiling with exposed beams.
This is the first museum that we visited that night. It is located in the city centre. We walked all the way from home. But the closest tube station is Willy-Brandt-Platz and it is only 5 minutes away.
This museum is connected to the Institut für Stadtgeschichte Frankfurt as well so we got to see both of the museums at the same time. The Archäologisches Museum is quite small and there is only one floor. It has display cabinets for old roman tools and columns etc. The displays include what were discovered around the town. There were displays of the salt walls as well. It was actually not allowed to take pictures inside the museum but I managed to take a few before they stopped me.
It is recommended to go, especially when it is free on the last Saturday of the month.
