This was a wonderful apartment - so well situated, clean, great staff; I can't rave enough about this place. Just down the road from the Duomo, right on a sightseeing tour bus stop, supermarket down the road (on left - closes at 8pm) and laudromat just across the road. VERY small balcony, but we still managed to put a chair on it and sip some wine. Wireless internet meant we could play Dean Martin tunes in the background while we sipped a fab red wine and look out at the Duomo. This was a fantastic apartment and I can't recommend it highly enough. We opted to have our car "valet" parked rather than leave it in the car park behind. I felt safer with this option and it wasn't that expensive in the scheme of things.
You can buy tickets to Galleria dell' Accademia (David statue) from reception - no need to book in advance from home, but if you book them from reception you skip the longer queues at the museum.
I recommend a restaurant just down the road from apartment: Acquacotta (51 Via dei Pilastri). Great food and excellent service. Good local restaurant.
We also took the "walkabout tour of Tuscany - the best of Tuscany Tour" - this was fantastic and if you only have limited days, I would recommend this trip (Sienna, San Gimignano, Pisa). Worth the cash - less stress, good lunch, packed a lot in.
