A trip to Florence is not whole without seeing it from above, and while Piazzale Michelangelo does a good job of that, it?s not the same as a view from within the city. The Medici Hotel, a block from the Duomo and right next to Piazza della Repubblica (ie the center of town), has that, plus proximity to the busy Via Roma, Piazza della Signoria, the Ufizzi and the Ponte Vecchio. Literally every major point in Florence is within a ten-minute walk. Rooms are tastefully furnished with pretty antiques, the glassed-in breakfast room offers glimpses of the street and the rooftop garden terrace ? and its close-up Duomo views ? is itself reason enough to stay here.
