The Grand Hotel Villa Cora is a traditional Florentine building set in parkland and located beside the Bobolino Gardens and a short complimentary shuttle ride to Ponte Vecchio. Originally called 'VILLA OPPENHEIM', this fascinating residence was built in XIX century (1865/1870) by Baron Oppenheim in honor of his beautiful wife. The parties and balls, that took place in the villa, gathered the elite of Florentine and foreign Society and became renowned for their pomp and elegance. Finally doubting in his wife's fidelity the baron tried to destroy the residence. The beautiful house was saved by the local police and then, abandoned by the baron, became a residence of ex-Empress Eugenia, widow of Napoleon who invited all the great Fiorentine families to numerous receptions and parities. Among people who lived at 'VILLA CORA' was the very rich Baroness Von Meck with whom Piter Ilich Tehiakowsky corresponded for many years. In recent years the villa was restored and converted into a luxury hotel. Most of furnishings in halls and apartments have been specially constructed following original drawings but many are authentic period and antique pieces. Everywhere one can find antique prints and lithographs, paintings of great value as well as Persian and Oriental carpets.
