Compiled for you: The facts!Details Tunnel Creek National Park
| Description: |
Tunnel Creek National Park is Western Australia's oldest cave system. The caves have formed where an old reef has been exposed to the surface and eroded away to form the cave system that exists now. You can enter the caves to see the stalactites and bats. There are several permanent pools which occasionally have fresh water crocodiles in them. It is suggested that you take a torch/flashlight if you decide to tour the caves and be prepared to get wet and possibly even cold. Other attractions besides cave exploration are sightseeing, walking and photography. Tunnel Creek National Park is located in West Kimberly, 115 kilometres from Fitzroy Crossing and 180 kilometres from Derby. It is a day use area with facilities limited to toilets and an information shelter. No camping is allowed. The best time to visit is between May and September as the park is usually inaccessible during the wet season. Rangers are based there during the dry season. |
