This is "one of the most popular art museums in Europe" and a "bizarre Surrealist showcase". The building's association with Dali dates from 1919 when his first paintings were exhibited in the foyer of the then theatre. Later he lived in the Torre Galatea. Restoration after destruction during the Civil War was supervised by Dali himself. Many of the exhibits and the decoration of the building are "weird and wonderful" reflecting Dali's "over-fertile imagination" and "technically brilliant draughtsmanship".
