Description: The Medina (old walled city) of Fes el Bali is the oldest part of the city of Fes and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Medina is believed to be the largest urban car-free zone in the world. The walled city consists of narrow streets, old markets, shops and restaurants, mosques and religious schools, the world's oldest continuously teaching University and many other places of interest to tourists. Visitors are generally advised to hire a local guide to avoid getting utterly lost and confused in the medina's labarynthine streets.
