We stayed at Michlifen Suites & Spa at the end of March 2011 and left wanting to return as soon as we could. This place is absolutely stunning. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, it's in Ifrane, the "Little Morocco" of Switzerland. It is a five star deluxe hotel so we expected high standards and were not disappointed - in fact it's hard to fault at all.
Highlights: Huge indoor pool which leads to outdoor pool in pretty gardens, food was superb, most of their fresh produce is sourced from a local organic farm called LA POMMERAIE. Best breakfast we have ever had, probably anywhere, a long table full of home-baked breads - parmesan rolls, pain au chocolate, croissants, fresh fruits organic goat's cheeses, cold cuts, all beautifully presented. Afterwards we had a coffee on the spacious decked terrace overlooking the pool with the mountains in the distance, eagles gliding over the fir trees. Absolute bliss.
Ifrane is cooler in summer than most of Morocco, so it's a good place to escape to (45 mins from Fez airport). The room was super-comfortable, with its own terrace, stunning modern bathroom with lovely bubble baths, etc.
This is a sports lovers' paradise - and the spa is five star, we didn't have any treatments but we had a look - there's a hammam and modern spa areas - products are Clarins and Maroc Maroc.
All in all one of the best discoveries we have made. This place is on a par with the best in Marrakech but what makes it so very special is the location, staff and the high quality of the whole experience. A beautiful place in a beautiful setting - just 3 hours from London!
