[more]Immersed amidst the green countryside but just two kilometers from the city center, l’agriturismo Corte dei Gioghi is located in the outskirt of Ferrara, near the ancient city wall. Corte dei Gioghi provides the ideal solution both for those wishing to spend a short holiday at the slower pace of nature and for those business travellers looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay.
L’agriturismo comprises the newly renovated country house (dating back to the IIXX century) along with a smaller adjacent building, the depandance. Both buildings are surrounded by a beautiful park with a swimming-pool. The swimming-pool area is conveniently refurbished with all amenities tailored to cater for our different guest needs – from sun umbrellas, beds and chairs for those guests wishing to relax to the wi-fi internet access for the unstoppable workers.
Breakfast
A rich homemade breakfast is prepared every morning. While during the summer our guests prefer to have breakfast outdoor in our luscious palm-tree garden or in the marquee near the swimming-pool, in the winter breakfast is served in the main country house, in the two dedicated halls that are beautifully decorated with antique furniture.
Leisure
A small library is located in the distinctive loft (the so-called “soppalco ferrarese”) of the main country house and allow our guests to appreciate the breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside. The library provides a comprehensive collection of books, guides, maps and other useful material to encourage our guests to discover the authentic beauty of Ferrara and its fascinating rural surroundings.
Rooms
Seven comfortable rooms are available: the three largest ones (1 room accommodating up to 4 people and 2 rooms accommodating up to three people) are in the main country house while 4 double rooms are in the depandance. Each room is nicely decorated with authentic furniture from the late IXX century and has an ensuite bathroom. The rooms are all equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as cable & satellite TV, telephone, mini-bar, AC / heating and hair-dryer. Internet wi-fi access is available free of charge to our guests throughout the property.
Parking
The wide parking area is conveniently and safely located inside the main courtyard. Since Ferrara has a long tradition as a bike-friendly city, bikes are available free of charge to our guests whishing to explore the surrounding countryside or the nearby city center.
The Farm Estate
Corte dei Gioghi is located in the farm estate “Misericordia” (literally “Mercy”). The estate consists of 4.5 hectares of land and has been in the family for five generations. The main production is wheat and corn, but we also have a small production of tomatoes, aubergines, potatoes, salads, broccolis, radicchio, water melons, melons and peaches. These are mostly sold to local customers and can be also purchased by our guests.
From this year, we recently started growing fresh herbs such as oregano, sage, tarragon, mint, fennel, chives, marjoram, summer savory just to name a few. We dry out the leaves, we finely grind them, we mix them and then we store them in little jars. Our fresh herbs are delicious and highly suitable for the preparation of many exquisite recipes.
