This hotel was out of the way, in Old Delhi. I will admit to being a little bit sceptical at first, when the taxi driver drove to this place, and pointed down a dark alley to the entrance.
Even though the location wasn't fantastic, the service was quite good. A couple of the guys spoke decent english, and communication wasnt too much of a problem. Being an Aussie, I asked for a couple of beers at 10.30pm when I arrived, and they supplied them no problem. The continental breakfast was adequate, but the resteraunt serves vegetarian only.
The first morning, talked to a young bloke called Rameez, who organized tours around the city, and to Agra ( 5 hour drive away).
Overall a decent, economical hotel. Don't expect much nightlife around. But it is good as a base to see the cities landmarks

First time to Delhi, so many surprises upon arrival. The last thing we wanted was a dirty scary hotel. Don't worry when you pull up and have to walk down a dark narrow street- it is back there. We LOVED Hotel Tara! Clean, quiet, good breakfast (included), nice shower, great rooftop view! We ( 2 women) woke up and walked around Old Delhi for an hour taking in the sights and ALL the people. Perfect hotel, especially for the price!!

Hotel breakfast was very nice with lots of goodies - fresh juices for example. The room was very nice and clean and relatively large for the price. People very helpful. There is a 15 minute free internet per day from using a computer in the lobby. The area itself is convenient to many restaurants and activities.I would definitely return.

The airport pickup guy had to wait 2 hours for our late plane - no problem, he was there and we connected easily (this was at 2am in the morning!). The middle of the night arrival at the hotel (we came from the U.S) was a bit of a shock, but it turned out to be perfectly ok. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is right within easy walking distance to
all kinds of shopping as well as to the (excellent) subway station. The clean rooms provide top sheets on the bed . The food at the roof top restaurant is marginal (we only tried breakfast), but there is an excellent restaurant within walking distance on the same road (called KARIMS).This hotel also arranged a car for us to return to the airport . All worked out
great! For a day tour by english seaking driver for around $30 by the travel desk from the hotel, we would highly recommend . He is quite trustrworthy and will show you a great time! Tell him, I recommended him!

One of the nicest budget hotel in busiest shopping district in Delhi. There are mainly Tourist family or couples because it was very close to major attraction like Red Fort , Jama Masjid , chandni chowk. It is dual dominated environment and surprisingly quite safe. My mum and I stayed at the hotel in our own separate rooms because we could afford the cheap rates. Room service & customer service is great. Special hi to the guys at the reception called pawan and Kapil who always had a smile on their face, they really used to make our day especially when heading back to the hotel after a long busy day of shopping. I generally dont find people in India very friendly like us Aussies so it was nice to see some genuine friendly cheerful faces. I recommend eating at the hotel because the Indian food is served there that great. Though I wouldnt recommend females to venture out after 10pm when the area gets quieter. Its safe as long as its busy and crowded. The rooms are nice and the bed is softer compared to some beds I have slept in other hotel. The hotel was very busy while we were there I guess due to the peak season. If you are looking to do some shopping then I recommend this hotel. I will definately go back there again.

Hotel has the best service you could want. They made us feel right at home, and went out of their way to supply all our needs and more. All of the staff made us feel comfortable and were very respectful. Arriving in Delhi at 10pm we got off the plane to find Hotel representative waiting for us with a welcoming smile. We found the service and the staff a delight; they did everything to make us feel at home. They indeed provided me assistance in providing air tickets to Mumbai for tomorrow without any service charge. I recommend this hotel to everyone in my friends and relatives.

We had booked our hotel, the Hotel Tara Palace, on Hostelbookers.com, and as usual, paid a 10% deposit, the balance being payable directly to the hotel. One of the benefits of this hotel was "free airport transfers", so we had called them and arranged a pick-up from the airport. When we arrived we found our man, holding a sign with our names on, and we got into his car. Hotel was clean and staff very helpful

I am feeling so lucky, because I could book a room in Hotel Tara Palace three days before my travel. I spent four nights in Hotel and it was perfect. First of all location is excellent with Red Fort just around the corner and Chandni Chowk Bazar a short walk from the Hotel. Also the staff...they greet you in a way you feel at home! The hotel is totally renewed, so everything was clean and bright. For sure, I will stay here in my next Delhi visit.

For our first night in Delhi we chose this hotel Tara Palace after reading reviews and comparing different sites-we were very happy with our choice, very good and clean room, very good price, great location in Old Delhi, nice and helpful staff-never tried to sell us anything which is much appreciated in India... lovely breakftast, internet
We were so happy that we chose it again later on our journey, I do recomment to stay here- it is a pity that is not recommended on the guides-I had the Rough Guide
Of course Old Delhi streets are a bit shocking if it is your first time in India but we loved it and preferred to stay there and visit around and get lost in the alleys and the bazaar

The neighborhood around the hotel is pretty seedy, and although I traveled there alone as I woman, I wouldnt recommend it for other lone female travelers. All rooms are air conditioned, which is wonderful, and they are also very clean (especially in contrast to outside). The man behind the desk at the hotel can help in booking prepaid taxis and train tickets. He booked my train ticket to and from Bodh Gaya in a matter of minutes, so I didnt have to go through the hassle of waiting at the train station for it! All in all, my experience at the Hotel Tara Palace was enjoyable, and I would definitely look into staying there again if I am ever back in Delhi!
