Behind the reception you have two staff members who look ok but they are not really standing there with a big smile. They are friendly but they don’t ask if you are familiar with the area or anything. A shame because for me it makes a big difference. I have made a reservation beforehand so checking in wasn’t any problem at all and before I knew it I was on my way to my room. I paid 85 euro’s for the room and 11,50 euro’s for the breakfast. Not a bad price I think.

There are 80 rooms in this hotel and there is an elevator. What strikes me is that the elevator only works with my hotel key. This always gives me a safe feeling that people can’t just go in the hotel. The rooms of the Bastion are always the same and are spacious but nothing special. You get a reasonable room with a bed for 2 people. You have a small desk, a television and a mini bar. Everything looks clean and well taken care off.

The bathroom is always very good at the Bastion hotel and always clean and well taken care of. You get some free products like soap and shampoo and there is a bath with a spacious shower, toilet and a sink with a big mirror. You also have a hairdryer and enough towels which are cleaned daily. The bathroom looked clean and after the first day I had clean towels and new soap and shampoo.

What I really appreciate about this hotel is that you have the option to make coffee or tea at the comfort of your own room. There is a kettle with some coffee and tea but also sugar and milk. It’s just a great pleasure to come back at your room at night and able to have a cup of tea while watching television. You also have room service where you can order some basic things from a menu. I saw that the prices were reasonable.

There is a bar at the hotel. Around the bar are the wooden bar stools with a blue coating. My experience is that there is friendly staff who deal well with their guests. You can sit quietly and even do some reading. There is much to gain from beer to spirits. Even coffee and tea. Around happy hour, there are nuts on the tables and the bar. The prices are reasonable.

There is a spacious restaurant with tables and chairs arranged for 2 up to 4 persons. The tables are nicely decorated with a light and salt / pepper set and a bottle of wine. You get here the morning breakfast buffet with cheese, meat, and sweets and a variety of egg rolls and breads. This is for 11.50 euro’s quite extensive but you can also have lunch and dinner. The Bastion menu a three course menu or daily specials. On the menu you'll find lunch and a la carte dishes.
