We opted for a small suite which was in the main building. The room consisted of a small sitting room with quite dated furniture. A nice large comfortable bed and I got a full 8 hours sleep in it. The the bathroom was functional with a toilet and shower over the bath, The flooring was quite creaky but then after three hundred years of use its hardly suprising.

Parking is a bit of a problem as it only has a small car park which is on a first come basis. It requires some skill in parking and on one night we were not able to park at all and had to park some distance from the hotel.

The reception area is towards the back of the hotel and the staff were professional, welcoming and effiecient.

There are two bars one of which is a quiet saloon bar called quil and the main bar at the front of the hotel is called Orthellos bar which is frequented by guests attending the theatre before and after the show. It has a roaring log fire and is quite comforable and the bar prices are quite high. It is quite cosy but can get a bit noisy.

Opposite is Orthellos restaurant although we only had breakfast here which worked out at about £15 a head. Well worth it though because there is a constant supply of tea or coffee a wide selection of fruit both fresh and dry, cereals of all descriptions, yoghurts, hams and cheeses. Some of the fruits are quite exotic and not normally found on a breakfast buffet. There was a brilliant assortment of breads,pastries and preserves. The cooked breakfast was of a very high standard and cooked to perfection. It was a very hearty breakfast which set you up for the day.
My only criticism would be the parking facilities as these were quite poor but not through the fault of the hotel. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as it is so close to all the historical sites of Stratford upon Avonand is full of character.
