The author describes the Royal Crescent hotel in Bath as being "an architectural treasure". The hotel itself is a "lavishly converted house" and there is "a Palladian villa in the garden" that provides additional accommodation. The furnishings within this establishment "are consistent with the building's period elegance".
There are some rooms that "are on the small side" but there are "ample luxuries" to compensate, including "a pampering spa".
The restaurant is described as "superb" and provides "fixed-price dinner menus". This restaurant "has won consistent praise" for its food. This is "modern British fare" that is influenced by dishes from "Europe and the Far East". During the summer it is possible to "dine alfresco".

This hotel is described as a "special place" that "stands proudly in the centre of the famed Royal Crescent". According to the author the Royal Crescent has been "long regarded as Bath's premier hotel". Past guests have included the "rich and famous".
The "individually designed" bedrooms are "lavishly furnished" and contain "four-poster beds" that are "superb and rather sumptuous". There are a number of "special touches" laid out for guests such as "bottled mineral water" and "fruit plates". On the whole the bedrooms are "quite spacious" and "elaborately decked out with thick wool carpeting, silk wall coverings, and antiques". The bathrooms are "equally luxurious" with their "deluxe toiletries" and "marble tubs".
A Frommer's three star rating has been allocated to the hotel.
