Christchurch boasts two of the most iconic buildings in Oxford, Christopher Wren's Tom Tower (at the main entrance), and the soaring Cathedral spire. At the other side of the college, on the Christchurch Meadow cattle graze and if you look carefully you might see a girl tumbling down the rabbit hole: Lewis Carroll and Alice's father were both Christchurch dons.

Other famous students include John Locke, Robert Hooke, John Wesley, Robert Peel, William Gladstone, W.H. Auden, , Rowan Williams and one in five of UK's Prime Ministers.

There is a lot to see at Christchurch, and the visit is well worth the entry fee of around 5GBP. In addition to the impressive quadrangle, the visitors can see the Church, itself a beautiful space inspiring thought and contemplation, with a particularly striking modern wooden sculpture of Mary and Child.

More recently, Christchurch interiors featured in the Harry Potter series of films, and there is a double thrill to peeking into the dining hall, firstly to recall all the great minds that met here, and secondly to imagine Dumbledore appearing at the high table (though the Great Hall was recreated in the studio actually). The staircase that leads to the Hall is also very impressive.
