I haven't stayed at the Four Seasons since it became a Marriott so it's probably changed a lot since I was there. However some things won't have changed, so I'll stick to those rather than waxing too lyrical about nights out in the Kells nightclub which used to be the place's main claim to fame, filled as it was with premier league footballers and wannabe WAGS.

The hotel is situated just off the M56, one junction away from the main Manchester airport turn-off. It's not 'on the doorstep' but the transfer time is not more than 3 or 4 minutes and the extra bit of distance keeps it quieter. And that is a remarkable thing - an airport and a motorway outside and it's still quite quiet.

The hotel has rooms that are laid out around a courtyard. The one I stayed in was entered off an open balcony and was the sort of style you get in US motels (but a lot posher). The rooms are large and well equipped with pleasant bathrooms although colour schemes and furnishings have no doubt changed under Marriott.

Proximity to the airport means this is a popular choice for business meetings and the pool and fitness club are both very good and popular with local residents. There are two different restaurants and a couple of bars. If you want a high standard hotel close to the airport without having to be right at the airport, this is a good choice.
