After dinner in Manchester city centre we decided to round our night off with a few drinks and our friends told us about this supposedly amazing bar which was called cinnabar. Being a sucker for all things design and pretentious it sounded right up my street so we got into a taxi and headed to it.
As we drove further and further from the city centre I was begining to get worried as I was wondering what sort of trendy bar would be located this far out. It turned out the bar is actually located in the amazing sports city complex which was built for the commonwealth games and now houses Manchester City football team.

The bar is located above the Vermillion restaurant and jaw dropping is the only word to describe this place as it is absolutely amazing looking. Apparently it cost somewhere in the region of 5 million pounds to design and build the restaurant and bar and although this is a huge amount of money you can definately see where the money went. The decor is absolutely spectacular and it really doesn't feel like you are in Manchester but more like a celebrity hang out in Hollywood or New york.

The whole place looks like something out of James Bond right down to the giant pods where you can drink in semi privacy. These were absolutely amazing looking and although there were a few available I was too nervous to actually go into one but the next time I go I will definately be sitting in one of those.
The look of the bar is Asian inspired and they have definately captured this perfectly and with large Asian statues scattered about and beautiful lighting.

I was glad I had dressed up as this isn't a place to go in Jeans and a t-shirt unless they are designer of course as the people here had really made a big effort with their appearance.
The cocktails were absolutely delicious and the service was first rate but it was very expensive. A glass of spirits with a mixer was £9 and the cocktails were all over £10. They were presented beautifully though.

We only stayed for a couple of drinks but the cinnabar is definately somewhere I would like to visit again and I would also like to visit the restaurant as I was so impressed with how it looked. If you are in Manchester and looking for somewhere classy and impressive to go for a drink then the cinnabar is definately somewhere you should go to just so you can stare open mouthed at the beauty of the place.
