Fodors tell us that the Colonnade "rests beautifully in a quiet, residential area known as "Little Venice" in a location that is close to "a canal filled with colorful narrow boats". It is described as a "lovely town house" where each of the rooms are different.
Sigmund Freud visited here in 1938 and one of the suites is now known as "the Freud suite". Some rooms have "four-poster beds or balconies" and all of the rooms have "rich brocades, velvets, and antiques". Extras include a "CD player" as well as a "bathrobe and slippers" and a "bowl of apples".
There is a "new tapas bar" which is "pleasantly modern" but the hotel still retains an "historic style" which includes a "1920s elevator and Wedgwood lobby fireplace".

The hotel is described as a "boutique charmer" and "handsome Victorian edifice" which was built in 1886 and features an "unusually shaped elevator". Located in the "Little Venice" region, it was once also home to Sigmund Freud and features "individually decorated" guest rooms, some of which have "small terraces". Rooms are "impeccably furnished" with antiques and "tasteful fabrics" and all have "well-maintained bathrooms". There are also a number of "thoughtful extras" such as "complimentary fresh fruit" and "Penhaligon's toilet articles". Frommers award one star, indicating that the hotel is "highly recommended".
