I like this place; it is a perfect combination of modern design and traditional Thai values and historic buildings. The service is warm and offers a personal touch you do not find in bigger chain hotels with 100+ rooms. The serenity and the atmosphere makes this place worth to visit - it is perfect to come down to earth after a busy time.

The author rated this hotel as 3 stars out of the maximum of 3 stars. Frommers indicates this hotel is exceptional. The author describes this hotel as a "luxurious oasis" which was the place of the "venerable old British Consulate" and has brought "luxury" to the town. It is facing the "beautiful river scenery" of river Ping. The building is an "eclectic mix" by "inimitable Kerry Hill". It has "pretty lawns" and it is located on a central riverside. The hotel offers the "highest standards" with a "superb exterior" using "minimalist wooden slats". The concrete paths are "polished" which leads to the "gem of a colonial mansion". The hotel is a mixture of "modern and colonial" building.
Guest rooms are of "business hotel standard". There is a "private courtyard entrance" for each room. The club suites are "enormous" with "lots of extras". The swimming pool is "glassy" and looks like it is from a "fashion shoot". The spa treatments are "on tap".
The restaurant offers "exquisite" Northern Thai cuisine, a "selection of unusual" Pacific Rim dishes and "sublime" afternoon tea.
