The impressive list of celebrities who've stayed here, is unimaginable. The Negresco is "not only one of the most famous hotels in France, but anywhere".

The hotel is actually a "protected historical site", built in 1912 in the "splendorous belle époque style" by "Romanian hotelier Henri Negresco", it still belongs to the Negresco family.

This "pink-domed" palace contains, in its "stained-glass Salon Royale designed by Gustave Eiffel", "one of the world's two chandeliers of its kind", made of "over one tonne" of "Baccarat crystal".

The hotel is said to contain "more valuable art than many public museums", they are disposed according to the period in which they were painted, on different floors.

All the guestrooms and suites are "unique", and have all the mod cons. There are twice as many staff as there are rooms, which reflects the quality of the service.

If you cross the street, you'll reach "Negresco's private beach, Neptune Plage".
The "Michelin-starred restaurant", the Chantecler, serves classical "French cuisine", like, for example the "oscietre caviar on egg-white mousse, followed by Rossini beef on truffle brioche", and the "bistro La Rotonde is like dining aboard a carrousel".

The train station is within walking distance.

The author tells us that the Negresco is "one of the few Riviera hotels" from its period "to have remained intact". Dating from 1912 this place is described as "A true grande dame". This hotel "has its own beach" and the hotel itself "occupies an entire block of the Promenade des Anglais". This place "is the traditional French Riviera at its best" catering for "guests for whom money is no object". It is "expertly managed" and "two handsome bellboys" at the doorway wearing "white gloves" greet guests. From the outside it is said that this hotel "resembles an extravagantly iced wedding cake" whilst "the atmosphere bellows excess, privilege and fun".
There are "many remarkable features" here. These include "the Salon Royal" which has a "Gustave Eiffel-designed dome" as well as "enormous Baccarat chandeliers" and "a grand piano". It is said that it was on this piano that Paul Mcartney "composed several of his most well-known songs". Elsewhere there are "works of art" which include
"several classic Louis XV portraits". Another example of art here is a "canary-yellow sculpture of a voluptuous bathing beauty" called "Nana" designed "by Niki de Saint Phalle".
The guestrooms are on four different floors and each one of these "floors is themed". These range "from the Napoleonic era to the 20th century". It is said that the owner is "passionate about art" and that "pieces from her vast collection hang on every wall of the hotel".
The Negresco has three different restaurants, which includes the "Michelin-starred Le Chantecler". There is also "la Rotonde" which is "designed to look like a Victorian merry-go-round" and serves a "fantastical breakfast and buffet-lunch salon". The third place where food is served is "a more casual beach-side café". The author states that this hotel is "strong on food".

The hotel is described as "a palace in the true sense of the word" with a good staff in "splendid uniforms". It has "119 luxurious rooms and 23 elaborate suites".
The hotel isn't an usual one. It's like "living museum-hotel". The hotel is full of art. It is "everywhere": rooms, halls and all other places.
The room occupied by author was "solidly equipped with antique
furniture and included every imaginable amenity". The view from the room was "spectacular".
The hotel's restaurant called Le Chantecler "brings the tastes" of Barcelona. There's a good variety of "delicious" food. Wines are also offered here.
The meal at the hotel's bistro La Rotonde "can only be described as poor". However it "offers a truly unforgettable
setting".
