The best thing about the hotel is the location. It's directly across the street from the main railway station with the airport shuttle bus going regularly and at a much better price than a taxi. The historic centre of town can be reached in about 10 minutes on foot. I can only conclude that we must have had a good rate because there wasn't a lot to recommend the hotel other than good prices. I'm amazed to see it listed as a 4-star because it's barely 2 star by most European standards.

It's not an unpleasant hotel by any means but it isn't luxurious in any way. When I was last there, about 5 years ago, the rooms were tired and jaded and worst of all they didn't have air conditioning. Germany doesn't seem to get enough hot weather to justify the cost of installing it but I had one horrible stay at the Eden Wolff where I spent all night moving cold wet flannels around my body trying to cool off. Opening the windows didn't help and just made it noisy and nasty instead of just nasty. If the website is to be believed, it looks like there's been a major refurbishment since I last visited and perhaps they've finally bitten the bullet and installed the much-needed air con.

Bathrooms are basic and I always seemed to get rooms with shower only which I don't much like. I'd always prefer to have the choice between shower or bath. Facilities were very standard bed, bedside cabinets, lamps, work desk, minibar etc.

Breakfast is great at the Eden Wolff and is served in their Zirbelstube restaurant, a cute old-fashioned beer keller type place with lots of little wooden booths and cutesy Bavarian kitsch. The hot and cold options were extensive and I never tired of what was on offer. Coffee was sometimes a bit 'iffy' but the food quality was good and this is one of the few hotel breakfasts worth getting up early for.

The staff were always very helpful and often gave us good tips for restaurants, without resorting to only suggesting cheap places.
